Career fair aims to help spouses navigate

Spouses looking for a career they can maintain during moves to duty stations around the country and the world can connect with resources to help them at an event near Tacoma next Wednesday, May 20.

The career fair, sponsored by the Washington-based nonprofit Hire America's Heroes, is open to the husbands and wives of service members in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, National Guard or Reserves. It will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Lake Club at Fort Lewis.

Deployments, housing, health care among military families' top concerns, study says

A survey by Blue Star Families released last week indicates that most military families feel the general public doesn't understand their sacrifices.

Conducted in March, the survey of 2,796 military family members was presented to members of Congress on May 5. Blue Star Families also released an executive summary of the results on its Web site.
